12 Strong

Posted on January 26, 2018 by in Movie Reviews

It’s a rip roaring war movie for the new millennium.

Like the star studded powerhouse movie “The Longest Day” did for the greatest generation, this movie represents and depicts the best in today’s American youth.

After all… old men start wars while young men fight them.

This movie occurs shortly after the attack on the World Trade Centers. Members of a peacetime green beret team get the news of the attacks in various ways and you can see through the expressions on their faces as they change into warrior mode. They all want to be the “Tip of the Spear” to get some payback on the people responsible for the 9-11 attacks. As members of this team prepare to deploy and say goodbye to there various loved ones, one of them explains that a soldier has two families, one you say goodbye to and one you fight beside.

This team are the first American soldiers to land and fight in the rugged mountains of Afghanistan. Their mission is to locate, capture, and/or kill the mastermind of the 9-11 attacks. They are sent to enlist the aid and friendship of members of the militia Northern Alliance tribe. Relationship problems beset the team from the outset, but fortunately there is a short little man from the CIA on scene to calm things down with full duffle bags of American money.

The mission continues with plenty of small arms fire, tanks, and B-52 bombers pulverizing the Taliban. There are several unsung hero’s in this movie, but I don’t want ruin the movie plot by telling you who they are. The highly trained modern soldiers are forced by circumstances to ride horses into battle against Soviet era tanks. Only one was a skilled rider, so he was faced with all of the usual challenges for newbie horsemen.

Heroes are men facing impossible circumstances and successfully prevailing despite incredible odds, and that is the whole message of this movie.

This was an excellent war movie.

If You’re Suffering – Try This!

Posted on January 18, 2018 by in Good Stuff

If you have arthritis – this is an awesome product…

It is a topical product that is supposedly safe for even 12 year olds that actually works great! My daughter uses it too and loves it. She likes the fact that it has no scent like some joint creams do. “Even though my body feels like I’m 90 sometimes, I don’t have to smell like it!”

Google it yourself to investigate it like we did or just ORDER it… if you happen to be one of the few people that it doesn’t work for the money back guarantee means you haven’t lost anything for giving it a try.

It can be purchased online from Amazon or at your local drug store.

This is not an advertisement, it’s a review of a product that works.

It’s a good find!

There are problems… constantly.

Posted on January 16, 2018 by in Letters to My Children

Things break, sickness happens and money runs out. We get diseases and we hurt and things don’t go as we planned. It’s always something!

Something that we don’t like. Something we’ve been trying to change that never seems to be getting any better. And if it’s not something happening to us – it’s happening to those we love. Life happens and it’s not all GOOD STUFF. People won’t always get along, they will get sick and times won’t always be good, but most of life is good. Far more good happens than bad.

Learn this. There are parts that hurt… a lot of them.

This is what trials and tribulations look like. They are the problems that happen in our lives and the sooner you figure this out, the better off you’re going to be. Once you figure out that life consists of peaks and valleys, you can go forward bravely.

When you know there will always be something going on you don’t like – everything becomes okay.

It’s your new normal and it doesn’t bother you anymore for the most part. That’s why Jesus said, “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33King James Version (KJV) We are told to cheer up because it really is alright. This (whatever it is) will pass and we need not let it bother us too much because we know the end of the story – and it works out pretty well for us.

Stolen Jesus

Posted on October 23, 2017 by in Book Reviews

Jami Amerine starts the book out with such a heartfelt statement that you can’t help but be drawn in, because there but by the Grace of God go all of us.

“Let me assure you, I am a disaster. I have some inadequate parenting stories (not bad as in Child Welfare bad, but certainly not Mom of the Year stories), some of which I will share with you in the coming pages.

There are crayon drawings on my walls. There are currently four basketfuls of laundry on the dining room table and a mountain of dirty dishes in the sink. Some days I make beautiful meals, and lots of other days we get take out. Sometimes it’s McDonald’s.

I can’t be your hero or teacher – no one would want a hero who was such a hot mess. On the bright side, at least you won’t be distracted from the goal of coming face-to-face with Jesus Christ.”

GOOD Does Come

Posted on September 14, 2017 by in Letters to My Children

Today as we live in the aftermath of hurricanes Harvey and Irma, I am reminded GOOD does come.

With all of the suffering and loss – GOOD does come, I promise. Every single horrible thing I have endured in my life has at some point brought good with it. Cancer and various losses come to mind, as well as Sept 11th of course.

I made many changes in my life (GOOD changes) as a result of all of those and many other tragedies. Hard times really do make the GOOD TIMES seem even better.

So don’t despair – whatever your current problem is…

Eventually you will see GOOD come out of it one way or another, because eventually GOOD always does come.

Same Kind of Different As Me

Posted on September 12, 2017 by in Movie Reviews

This is some GOOD stuff here…

19620133_1221742127952326_7506977802846909904_o

Watch the trailer HERE.

This New York bestseller became a movie and it is a GOOD one!

It begins outside a burning plantation hut in Louisiana… and an East Texas honky-tonk… and, without a doubt, in the heart of God. It unfolds in a Hollywood hacienda… an upscale New York Gallery… a downtown dumpster… a Texas ranch. Gritty with pain and betrayal and brutality, it also shines with an unexpected, life-changing love.

What the stars had to say about it…

“I’m honored to share in telling Debbie’s story and to be part of this beautiful effort to perpetuate the legacy of her work.”

—RENÉE ZELLWEGER, ACTRESS

“It’s a rare opportunity for an actor to be blessed with a role so soulful. To embody Denver’s spirit was at once an emotional challenge and an extreme privilege, learning the story of a man who came from so little and gave so much.”

—DJIMON HOUNSOU, ACTOR

“Working with an excellent cast and crew to help tell the story of Ron’s challenging personal journey was a creative joy.”

—GREG KINNEAR, ACTOR

It is an excellent movie, we give it two thumbs up!

As most of you know, we only review things that we believe are good. If we don’t have anything good to say, we just don’t say anything at all and remove the post.

This movie is worth spending your money on in our opinion.

It’s a heartwarming tale about real life and the wisdom some people are able to glean out of it. Based around a true story, the actors really do a great job of bringing the characters to life. I wouldn’t be surprised if there aren’t some awards given out that are truly deserved.

We both went into the movie with our own perceptions of what we thought we were going to see and we both left surprised. It probably would be classified as a “chick flick”, but my husband said he really enjoyed it.

20 Ways to Make EVERY DAY Better!

20 Ways to Make EVERY DAY Better

by Joyce Meyer

This is a common sense approach about how to make the most of your life, your faith and your time on this earth. In her usual fashion, the author honestly shares her spiritual journey with the reader so that you know other people have the same troubles, doubts and fears that you do. It’s written in bite-size chapters making it a great early morning or late night read so that you have time to ponder the principals she’s sharing.

Here’s an excerpt:

“I will admit that I struggled in life with emotional ups and downs until I finally accepted that no matter what I think, or how I feel, or what I want or do not want – God’s Word is the truth, and I have to believe it more than anything or anyone else. If you are willing to take that step of faith right now, you can say goodbye to most of your bad days!

Why do I say that? Because most of the time, when we are having bad days it is because we are thinking something that doesn’t agree with God’s Word, feeling something that doesn’t agree with God’s Word, or wanting something that doesn’t agree with God’s Word. I had countless bad days because the devil made me think and feel guilty about something that I had repented of and God had forgiven me for and forgotten.”

It’s a book full of wisdom, so it’s a GOOD read in our opinion.

Little White Crosses USA

Posted on November 9, 2016 by in Good Stuff

The Little White Crosses are now being made in Santa Fe…

The Santa Fe Good News Magazine is accepting the “relay CROSS” from Mr. Johnson to begin building them right here in our town. He has graciously given us another load of his crosses until we can try to keep up with the demand ourselves. We are committing to one year of “cross building” just like the Johnson’s did.

We want to do this in order to see to it that everyone in Santa Fe and the surrounding areas that wants a cross in their yard, can have one – FREE of charge. Christ gave us a great gift and we want to share it with anyone who wants it by way of this Little White Cross movement.

We have 2 PICK UP locations that we will try to keep stocked…

REMAX REALTY located at 13109 Hwy 6, courtesy of Monica Rojas and GALCO HARDWARE STORE located at 12920 FM 1764, courtesy of  Scott and Cecilia Eckenrode, Monica’s parents.

They are FREE to anyone who wants to quietly share their belief with the world.

If you would like to be involved in this movement in any way – please contact us and we will put you on the list of people wanting to support this silent protest for change in the direction of America in a quiet Godly way.

We will accept donations because we believe God will send them our way, but we would prefer supplies, labor, prayers and shares – rather than money, especially checks. This is only because we are not a 501c nor do we want to become one for a year and because we have more than enough red tape trying to run this business.

If you would like to find out more about this movement, you can click the links and watch a video below.

In the beginning… it started in support of a cross at the Port Neches park that an Atheist Group, Freedom From Religion, wanted removed because it was on city property. They are going all over the country doing this… but what has happened is unbelievable and amazing. This has become a movement by Gods people, standing up for the Lord and for our right as Christians, by displaying a little white cross in front of every Christian home that wants one. As Christians we know what the cross stands for. This is something God is doing and He has made it possible for this to happen.

They are still being offered in Port Neches until their supply is depleted…

If you would like some crosses for your friends and family, you can pick them up at 3161 Nall St  in Port Neches, Texas. Just pull up and take as many as you would like… they are FREE. We also leave them at Nicks Grocery and Judice’s in Port Arthur and the Big Store in Crystal Beach right now.

These crosses are in around 40 states and in two other countries spreading the love of Jesus. People in other states have started making them after seeing what has happened here. If you would like to join our group on Facebook CLICK HERE. Please pray for this movement and when some one asks you about the crosses, please share the Good News of Jesus Christ with them.

Editor’s Note: Mr. Johnson and his family have made the crosses for a year and believe that they are going to pass them on now, but you just never know what God may require of people who are obedient. They have graciously set us up to build for a year and it is our intention to pass it on to a neighboring town in a year as well.

I Gave You an Abundant Life!

Posted on October 28, 2016 by in Sunny Side UP

“Everybody else is doing it.”

“You’re not everybody else.

You are My child.”

Go to the fence and look over it. Can you see the green pastures? What do you see? Isn’t it pretty over there? Wouldn’t you like to live over there and walk those paths? I’ve laid out your life over there for you. All that remains is for you to walk through the gate and keep walking. Do you believe me or not?

That is the life I’ve given you. You can either live it or stay where you are. You can press forward and move on or stay stuck where you’re at. The choice is yours. What do you want? Do you want it bad enough to go through what you have to go through in order to get it? I’ll walk with you. I’ll help you. I’ve done all I can do, the rest is up to you. You don’t have to do it alone, but I can’t make the choice for you.

Do you wonder why you are here? I didn’t put you here, you did. I put you over there in my plan. But you didn’t want to follow my plan. You wanted to make your own way and that’s how you got where you are. I’m still willing to let you live there, but you have to choose to go there. It starts in your mind and then your body follows.

You keep getting it backwards. You have these notions of how you think it’s supposed to be. Your notions aren’t right. I know how it’s supposed to be. You either come over to my way of thinking or you stay stuck where you are. I gave you the world by the tail, take what I’ve offered or stay where you’re at.

GOD
